Those who fall under the first category may not necessarily be less preoccupied at work, some may not even earn mouthwatering salaries and in a plot twist, some actually epitomize the less work and more pay structure - a prayer peculiar to Yórùbà mothers of today. But those who have good bosses always tend to be the happiest group of workers out there. Research has also corroborated this notion, so there'll be no need for emphasis.
I've come across folks whom despite hefty salaries, complained of panic attacks on the job, mental stress, depression and regret. At first, they were ecstatic at the prospect of earning high amounts of money, bonuses, commissions and incentives but somewhere along the line, the oppressor (boss/senior colleague) began to hound them and make them feel like the very least of humans alive. Unless you've been in such situations where your boss or direct supervisor made life a living hell for you, then you have no business chiding those who feel this way.
On the other hand, there are people who earn modest amounts of money at both small or big organizations and readily speak out in support of their organizational culture. No, it's not that they don't have complaints, but there's an infectious passion that radiates from within each time they speak of how nicely they're being treated by their superiors. A good boss brings out the very best in you and makes you glitter in the thoughts of going to work everyday. If you're the type that has a good job and a good boss, then you don't know what God has done for you.
However, I could be wrong in my aforementioned points of view so I'd like us to substantiate or perhaps negate the following assertions:
- is having a good job inversely proportional to having a good boss?
- is having a good boss directly proportional to having a good job?
