When parents heard that an Eckist has joined the school they warned their children not to associate with me, thankfully, kids don't listen - Chinwendu Reuben

So Nigerian theist are suddenly tolerant of others religion ?

Just yesterday a Nigerian was asking me if my religion is an evil secret society on Facebook .

Have they suddenly stopped binding and casting others religion to hell while praying?

Huh... okay

I was born and raised as an Eckist. I grew up in a Christian dominated region. In primary school my teachers looked at me as a little anti-christ.
When parents heard that an Eckist has joined the school they warned their children not to associate with me. Thankfully, kids don't listen.

In secondary school, during prayers they always made time to caste and bind my religion along with others. They even composed a shady song for non-believers. I was called out to pray in few occasions knowing too well I wasn't a Christian and don't know how to pray in a Christian way.

I was repeatedly told by Christians that my religion is an evil secret society and blood sucking demons who kill people. When I try to defend myself, they shut me up by telling me that I'm just a kid and don't know much about my own religion.

At uniport I found myself being the only non-Christian in my hostel once again. I lost friends when they found out my faith. They intentionally sent student pastors to my room to pray for me. One unfriended me on Facebook because her religion instruct her not to associate with non-believers.

I have heard people whispering nonsense while I was sleeping. Saying things like "she is in astral world, if you move or touch her she would be dead".
"Oh I heard she was born into the religion. Eya... her parents initiated her as a baby".

The emotional abuse experienced by Eckist all over Nigerian is several painful.

So forgive me for laughing when I scroll through my timeline and see posts from Nigerian theist about tolerance.

Nigerian atheist are simply having fun doing the same thing to them. Now you know how it feels when people attack your faith.

Since I came to England I have had peace of mind. No one ever ask about your religion talk more of labeling you because of it. Here people deal with you as an individual and not your faith.

P.S in case you were wondering what the song was, it goes
"Eckankar power lower power,
Jesus power super power"
