Africans import everything, including behavioural patterns - Olakunle Allison

Africa must stop importing!


The West is dependable. We are dependants.


We import everything and rarely export anything.


As if that wasn't bad enough, we don't draw the line on our imports.


We import their science, and then import their conscience.


We import their technology, and also import their morality.


How I wish we would borrow their science without adopting their conscience. How I wish we would learn their technology without learning their morality.


There's an urban myth. That myth states that anything Western must be sound and logical. That it must be 'civilized' and 'progressive'. That, my friends, is the greatest urban myth.


Western Conscience is not always purged and western morality is not always true. Sadly, the Black Continent, especially my own countrymen hardly recognize this as fact.


We keep importing many Western consciences and moralities;


* Baby-Mama Trends.
* Third Wave Feminism.
* Glamorizing Divorce.
* Normalizing Homosexuality.
* Gay Marriage.
* Atheism and Secularism.
* Unrestrained Sexual Adventures.


These Western moralities would soon spell doom for the Caucasoid Race. Yet, they are the ones we model our lives and habits after. This is ominous.


Why can't we just swallow the meat and spew out the bone?


Africans in general and Nigerians in particular must have a culture filter which permits the 'good' from the West and eliminates the 'bad' from the West.


We urgently need a filter in the culture.


The West is not the metric for universal morality.
