Strangers in their own homes - Bisi Alimi

As I sat on the plane from Amsterdam to London, reading Arlie Hochschild's book 'Strangers in their Own Land' a thought crossed my mind.

It was about religious leaders, their bodyguards, anointing and miracles.

This post is based on my knowledge of being a 'born again christian' once in my life and having the pleasure of attending a church where my pastor had a bodyguards.

I never noticed for once, not once the bodyguards falling under the anointing of god, not once.

Then I question; is it that the bodyguards are so powerful they can't not be touched by the anointing or the pastor sent a memo to god not to touch his bodyguards because he doesn't trust his congregations enough. Or these anointing and miracles thing are just a charade built on bravado and driven by selfish capitalism and dubious aspiration?

Maybe we will never know, just maybe.

Happy to be home.
