Do you see the glow on the faces of those kids when they wear the gown? - Aisha Oyetunji

Prior to now, I was a fierce critic of 'graduation ceremonies' for pupils of elementary schools. I believed (I still believe anyway) that the jamboree is just another dubious means through which the proprietors of the schools make undeserved monies.

As a matter of fact, I used to assert that my kid would never be a part of such unnecessary celebrations.

However, I have now seen so much of children to conclude that denying one's ward of an opportunity to partake in the 'graduation' could be near suicidal.

Do you see the glow on the faces of those kids when they wear the gown? Do you notice how jubilant they usually are? Do you at all measure their happiness at that moment?

Your child may plainly never forgive you if you disallow him from the partying, I tell you.

Now, my solemn resolve is that until there is a law banning the 'convocation', I will buy graduation dresses, pay graduation fee for my kid and infact, attend the ceremony in full solidarity to show the poor lad I am with him.

Pretence? Maybe not. I have learnt so much that children deserve to be happy and until the status quo changes one day, that is the way the present day society has taught them to be.

We will go and do graduand's mummy like it is Harvard we are graduating from, because me, I don't want one child to be giving me bad eye or report me in children's court, plix.
