When the light goes off still, be encouraged still - Seun Abimbola
The journey of life is such that dangerous, curvy bends are part of the road to fulfilment. It can be rough and really tough atimes. There are moments everywhere seems bleak. It's like the night season. No light. No seen face. You feel alone. Friends might be there but their interventions might just be too little or non-existent, and at some other points, too late. Now, I need you to know that everyone who has a defined sense of purpose is already a leader. You'd stand for something and people will come to love, respect and walk with you because of it. What leadership does many times, even when you are open and honest about your vulnerability, is to give people the impression that you can handle it all alone. They can ask others how they are doing, feeling or coping, but for you, they just think you have it all figured out and settled.
Trust me, we'll all have our night seasons. I pray you have real friends to lean on when that moment comes. Amen. However, if everyone fails, God won't. That's why this morning I want to re-emphasise that you must stay strong. You must stand. Like David, you must encourage yourself in the Lord even when everyone deserts you. The same people who praise you today can turn against you tomorrow if you fail them. What do you do, sulk? Give up? I don't think so. That's why everything God is saying now matters even if it seems currently unusable. You'll need it someday. Just because you are doing the will of God doesn't mean all will be rosy and painless. Far from it.
When the light goes off, be encouraged still.
When loses define your transactions, be encouraged still.
When those who once believed you let go off you, be encouraged still.
When everything goes out and it is only the still small voice that makes sense, perhaps faintly, be encouraged still.
Like David, leaders learn to encourage themselves IN THE LORD, even when they are alone. Don't stay defeated. Stand. After you've done all to stand, still stand.
Keep winning.
